Day Off

Well I'm off work yesterday and today and it was way nice to be able to sleep in a little bit. Last week my shifts all started at 7 or 8am, and with the buses I would usually have to leave an hour early so that put me waking up pretty early. Work has been going really good and I'll eventually get around to posting pictures of me in my costume since I know you're all dying to see it. Haha but yeah I've just been training and stuff. So far I've worked out in the dining room and in the bakery and it's all pretty easy. I love talking to the guests because there are a ton from England and I love hearing their accents!

Although I've been working a lot I've still been able to go hangout at the parks a little bit. I still haven't made it to Animal Kingdom, so that might have to wait till my next day off next week. Last week my roommates and I went  to dinner at Hollywood Studios at the Sci-Fi Drive In and it was way cool! I had heard about it before so it was fun to actually go eat there. Its like you're at a drive-in theater and you sit in cars and watch movies while you eat. The food wasn't the greatest but it was still fun.

So I was off yesterday and I decided to go to Hollywood Studios. I knew a few other people who were also off and we had talked about meeting up, but I decided to just leave early and then meet up with them later if I heard from them. So yeah, I was cool and went by myself. Haha but it was still a lot of fun and I rode a few rides and walked around a little bit. It started raining so it kind of cleared out a little bit, and I'm pretty sure I've used my umbrella here more in the past 2 weeks than I have total the 2 years that I've had it. It rains all the time!

But then a friend texted me and he was headed to Magic Kingdom so I met up with him over there, and luckily it stopped raining. So we hungout there for a few hours and did Pirates, Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain. It was a lot of fun! My day off today has been less exciting. I had to get laundry done and go to Wal Mart and fun stuff like that. But I might go walk around Downtown Disney with some roommates later. So yeah that's about it for now. The rest of the week will just be more working and getting to the parks when I can. The buses here are really nice and convenient, but sometimes its just a pain having to plan out like an hour or more just to get somewhere. I feel like I spend so much time riding buses around. But luckily I still have The Cab to listen to! I get hooked on CDs for long periods of time and it's not always a good thing. I basically listened to The Script all last semester at school, Pinback and Parachute all summer, and now The Cab will be the soundtrack to my Disney World life.

Symphony Soldier!

Ok so this post isn't so much about my glamorous new job at Disney World, which by the way I officially started today and let me just say that my costume is quite possibly the most hideous one you will ever see at Disney World. But no, this post is not about that. Sorry. However, I'm pretty sure only 3 people read this so it's not that big of a deal. Instead this post is dedicated to The Cab. Yes, The Cab. I know if you're reading this then you probably know me, and you probably know that The Cab is my favorite band. I bought their first album when it came out 3 years ago and I have been patiently waiting for the release of their second album since then. I have seen them in concert 3 times and am pretty much in love with them. And here are some of those amazing pictures. Ok not so much amazing but I took them so they're pretty cool.

Well the day finally came that their new album was released, and it could not have come at a better time. My last post was on Monday, and although Monday started out really good it had a pretty crappy ending. So I was feeling pretty down. However, their new album Symphony Soldier was released on Tuesday so after training I naturally rushed home and bought it. And I have been listening to it non-stop ever since. Like for real. I know this sounds cheesy but the music and words of the songs on this new album have spoken to me like no other songs have. Corny right? I know. Haha but I think it was just the timing of certain things. I don't know. I've never been obsessed with music like some people have, but The Cab is legit and I love them. Every song is perfect. Wow I didn't think I was going to keep going on and on like this but I can't stop. Haha but yeah, long story short (or short story long if Laura is reading this) I love it and if you're reading this you should stop reading and go buy it and listen to it. Right now. My favorite songs are currently Endlessly and La La and Angel With a Shotgun, so if anything please listen to those songs! And if any guy were to sing Endlessly to me I'm pretty sure I would marry him on the spot. Maybe. Haha

Anyways, enough about that. So yeah I've been working. But last night I went and hungout at Epcot for awhile so that was pretty fun. Today after work I met with the missionaries for a little while. Apparently they have a lot of baptisms and success with kids here in the College Program so it was really fun talking to them about stuff. It was actually really really good and I don't think I've felt so good and positive since I've been here.

So in summary, this week that I've been here has definitely had its ups and downs. But as of right now I'm trying to be positive. Haha so yeah that's me right now. And I know if you're reading this you are doing it because of you're wanting to hear more about Disney World and see some pictures, so I'll work on that!

First few days

So I finally have some pictures to post! The past few days haven't been too busy. I had training Saturday and was off Sunday and also today. Friday after Traditions me and my roommates went to the Magic Kingdom! It was pouring at first, but eventually it stopped and we got to ride a few rides.

Saturday I went to Magic Kingdom again with one of my roommates. Sunday I got to go to church since I was off so I was happy about that. Today me and a roommate went to Blizzard Beach with 2 people from our ward that we met, and it was so much fun! Its a water park here and my roommate I went with and the guy we went with actually work there so that was cool. It has this slide called the Summit Plummet which is apparently the tallest water slide in the US. Its 120 feet and you go like 60 mph, and yes I did it! So we hungout there for a few hours and then went and ate. Why can't Arizona have cool waterparks? This one was so much fun! Now I'm excited to check out the other waterpark Typhoon Lagoon on another day off. Well that's about it for now. Tomorrow I finally start my training at my actual location so that should be fun to finally see where I'll be working!

I made it!

So I'm in Orlando! It has been a crazy busy 2 days, but I'm settled in my apartment and trying not to die from the humidity. Yesterday my flight to Orlando got in about 9:20am, and I ended up meeting a girl who was sitting next to me on my flight who was also on her way to check in for the college program. We got to talking and realized she was from Gilbert too. And then I realized her mom had been my junior high PE teacher. Small world! Anyways so we got our luggage together and found the shuttle to take us to check in. It didn't take too long to check in, and when I was waiting in the last line I started talking to the girls behind me and we realized the 4 of us were roommates so that was nice to meet each other. Check in was at Vista Way apartments, but we're living in Chatham so we had to wait for a bus to take us over. So we're waiting on the sidewalk with all of our luggage and stuff and it started raining. At first it wasn't bad and I just pulled out my umbrella. But within a few minutes it was a total downpour! Luckily there was this big empty garage/storage thing (I actually have no idea what it was - but it was empty) and we ran for cover. There was probably close to 20 of us in there and we just had to wait for the next bus to come.

Eventually we made it to our apartment (which is way nice and way big) but we just had time to drop off our stuff and change into dry clothes and then we ran to catch our bus to go to casting. We ended up having to wait an hour, but we finally got to go and find out where we'll all be working. I'm going to be working at.......The Port Orleans Resort! I've never heard of it and really don't know much about it, but I'm sure it will be fun. At first I was kind of disappointed because I didn't really want to be in a resort and had been hoping for a park, but its all good. Today we had a housing meeting that lasted like 2 hours, and yeah it was as boring as it sounds. After that we finally made it to Wal-Mart so I now have food! The bus system they have for us is pretty nice because we're able to go pretty much wherever we need to and we just have to show our housing ID badge.

Tomorrow everyone has Traditions, which is like this big orientation/training meeting thats like 4 hours long. The best part about it is that this is where we will be given our official cast ID that will allow us to go into the parks! So that will be fun to finally be able to go play! My roommates all seem really nice and like a lot of fun. Sorry I don't have any pictures yet....next time for sure. That's about it for now. It still doesn't seem real but I'm hoping that will change once I finally start working. And sorry this is so long. If anybody is actually reading this I'm sure I've bored you to death, so sorry about that!

On my way....Almost

Well, I did it. I started a blog. The main reason for this is because I'm leaving for Florida to work at Disney World for a couple of months. Yep, Disney World! I was accepted to the Disney College Program back in February and in a few hours I will be boarding a plane for Orlando to start living and working at Disney World. If you know me you know I've been flip-flopping back and forth as to whether or not I was going to go, and after a summer of driving my mom crazy with my indecisiveness I made the decision to do it. I'm excited and looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm freaking out. I'm nervous. I'm going over totally by myself and don't know anyone else there. And I'm already missing my family and friends and a certain someone. I'll be there till January and won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas which I know will be way hard. Everyone says it will be a good experience and the positives will outweigh the negatives, and I'm sure they're right but I'm still nervous. So this blog will be my attempt at keeping people updated on what I'm up to. And I'm pretty sure the only ones who will really read it will be my mom and sister! Well that's it for now. I can't guarantee I'll update it consistently but I'll try!

Disney World here I come!
